At what age should I schedule an appointment for an orthodontic screening?
Most international orthodontic associations recommend that children be evaluated for treatment between the ages of 7 and 9 years old. A percentage of those patients will benefit from early treatment. Others will be placed on a 6 - 12 month recall program until they are ready to undergo treatment when their second set of molars appear. What is Phase 1 (early) Treatment?
If needed, Phase 1 orthodontic treatment starts between the age of 7 and 9 years old when children begin to lose their baby teeth and present with a mix of primary and permanent teeth.
