Most Commonly Asked Questions

How do we plan your smile makeover?

We use the following steps to help meet the goals for your smile: - We start by listening to you and your concerns to know what your goals are and what changes you would like to see in your smile. - We check whether the patient’s dental and periodontal health can support proper aesthetic work (this happens before taking records). - If we feel confident that we can address your needs, we takes records including. photos of your face and smile along with necessary x-rays and other diagnostic aids. These records help us design a treatment plan that meets your needs and your dentist’s skilled assessment. - We share that treatment plan during a comprehensive consultation in which we share what to expect with your care. This review includes the anticipated outcome, time commitment, cost, and maintenance needed to protect your smile. We pride ourselves on offering you a mock-up and digital smile design. You may think of this as a test drive of your new smile!

What is the mockup?

We never try to guess what your smile should look like, and a mockup lets us preview the smile we’ve created for you. The mock up is created in our lab to show you how your teeth would look after finishing the treatment. For simpler cases, we use tooth-colored resin material temporarily added to your teeth for a real-time preview of what you can expect from definitive treatment.

What is digital smile design? What about digital scanning and impressions?

Smile makeovers usually involve our skilled lab technicians creating custom porcelain to transform your smile. They require models of your teeth, which have always been captured with putty impressions. But we’ve chosen digital scanning technology because it’s accurate, comfortable, and quick! We can also use software to plan your case and let you preview the anticipated results with a Digital Smile Design (DSD). DSD is an advanced technology that allows doctors to create a digital smile makeover so that you can visualize the results from treatments such as gingival recontouring and aesthetic care for your teeth.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin layers of porcelain bonded to the fronts of your teeth to create the ideal smile for you instantly. Veneers allow us to preserve and enhance your natural teeth with a stunning new appearance. This custom-crafted porcelain can correct tooth shape, color, and alignment within a short period, and you can even preview your new look before committing to treatment using Digital Smile Design or a mockup.

What is the cost of a smile makeover?

The cost of a smile makeover varies widely and it depends on several factors including the complexity of the case, the time required for treatment, and the materials used to achieve the established goals. Our clinical coordinator makes sure that the cost is discussed thoroughly before beginning treatment. We create a written agreement for your review and approval prior to beginning treatment.

How long does a smile makeover take before it’s done?

The length of treatment depends on the complexity of the case and whether you prefer to complete the treatment in phases or in a longer session. In general, a smile makeover usually takes a few appointments after the team plans your case and you’ve had an opportunity to review it and ask questions. We prepare the teeth for handcrafted porcelain restorations, including veneers and crowns. You may wear temporary restorations for a couple of weeks before returning to receive your beautiful new smile.
