Biography
Dr. Altuwairgi grew up in Riyadh and graduated from the Capital Model Institute with science as the primary focus. He then attended King Saud University where he earned his dental degree in 1986, followed by his surgical training at London University, Eastman Institute in 1988. He went on to earn his DMD from Boston University in 1999, and then continued to earn two more professional degrees; an MD from Tufts University and a PhD from Harvard. Furthermore, he served as a faculty member at all three U.S. universities.
Dr. Altuwairgi’s broad oral maxillofacial surgery training led to multiple leadership roles including the Head of Surgery at King Saud University and Division Head at the National Guard Hospital, a role he continues to fill. He also initiated the Cranial Facial Group of King Faisal Hospital in Riyadh and established the Saudi Oral and Maxillofacial Society. In addition to serving patients at Kharsa Clinics, he serves as a visiting professor at the University of Maryland and an Associate Professor at Al Faisal University. Dr. Altuwairgi loves aesthetics, and loves helping the best aesthetic surgeons in the world, but he continues to learn from them, too. Outside the clinic, he’s blessed with a wife and kids who make his journey more interesting and enjoyable. He’s been involved with Syrian refugee treatment at the Turkish borders, and he encourages residents and colleagues to engage in charity work throughout their careers. He holds the distinction as the first Gulf graduate to obtain a path to American Board certifications, and he enjoys facilitating colleagues who want to follow the same path.
